The shoes should be clean and dry prior to application. Hold bottle upright 6″ to 8” from shoe and spray evenly, covering the entire area of the shoe. Do not oversaturate. Use a cloth to dab and soak up any excess product. Allow to completely dry/cure for 24 hours or more. After the first coat has dried, repeat steps and apply a second coat. Before exposing to liquid, make sure shoes have completely dried.

Keep in mind that no product can make your shoes fully waterproof. Given enough water, they’ll eventually soak through. However, you can achieve a strong water barrier, which should be enough to keep your feet dry in everyday conditions.

Repel also acts as a shoe protectant spray, keeping dirt and dust from attaching and settling into your sneakers. It comes in a non-aerosol can that sprays a continuous fine mist, and it’s PFAS-free, so you don’t have to worry about breathing in any toxic “forever” chemicals.

Tip: The longer you allow Repel to cure, the stronger the repellency.

Repel can be used to waterproof a variety of apparel items. Think Levi’s denim jackets, Carhartt tote bags, New Balance 990’s, Hoka Cliftons, etc.

Magic Erasers are made of melamine, an abrasive, sponge-like material. While touted on the internet as an inexpensive, quick way to clean shoes, we don’t recommend using it on your cherished boots and sneakers for a couple reasons. First, melamine is highly abrasive. It’s essentially like taking a very fine sandpaper to the shoe. This may be OK for the most durable of materials, like plastic and rubber, but it can pull the dye or paint out of leather and fabric. Also, they do nothing to clean or condition the shoes, which they can dry out and deteriorate. Jason Markk cleaners include nourishing oils to condition and protect your shoes, so they last longer and look better.
