FAQ

Our Leather balm is gentle enough for both your luxury goods and sturdy workwear. Whether you're safeguarding luxury items like a Chanel handbag, Louis Vuitton purse, or a Gucci wallet, or more rugged items, like your Redwing or Lowa Boots, or even your favorite limited edition Jordan 1 Fragments, waterproofing ensures longevity and keeps these investments in top condition.

No need to use Repel on leather items with a polished or sealed finish, such as patent leather, as these are already essentially waterproof. If Repel is accidentally applied to these types of materials, simply wipe clean with a cloth before it dries.

Hold off on mink oil (made from, you guessed it, mink) or neatsfoot oil (made from hooves). These antiquated animal-based products may sound OK to use (leather is an animal-based product, after all) but they can actually become rancid and smelly after being exposed to air for some time.

Luckily, these days we have many alternatives, such as our beeswax-based Leather Balm, which creates an effective seal, allowing water to bead and roll off the surface. This balm is colorless, fragrance-free, and helps restore the leather’s natural luster.

The Delicates Cleaning Brush is made of ethically-sourced hog or boar hair brushes. It is effective at removing dirt from shoes and hats without causing damage, and is often used for cleaning delicate materials such as leather, suede, or mesh knit.  Run it across your hand and you’ll find the bristles are simultaneously soft and stiff, and are often used to gently exfoliate skin. They are effective without being highly abrasive, and are safe to use on most leathers. They also have the ability to hold a significant amount of cleaning solution.

However, if you’re cleaning something you don’t want to risk scuffing under any circumstances, like a designer piece, a vintage piece, or a family heirloom, you can use a horsehair brush, like the Ultra-Delicates Brush.
